Hey Folks, please join us for this 4 mile out-and-back in Shevlin Park on the Tumalo Creek trail. This lovely hike begins in an aspen grove which opens into a broad ponderosa forest while following the riparian habitat of glassy Tumalo Creek.

We’ll meet at the main Shevlin Park Trailhead on the south side of Shevlin Park Rd (left side coming from town). The parking lot is of moderate size but can fill on Saturday mornings, so if possible please carpool.

The Tumalo Creek trail is wider than most single track, the tread is compressed soil, there are several boardwalks, and there is little change in elevation. Given that we’re hiking in mid September we’ll see the beginning of fall color amidst the aspen. Bring water and a snack. Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome!

Shevlin is a 1,000 acre park that preserves the native landscape. It’s a cherished park that was donated to the community 123 years ago by lumber man Tom Shevlin. Bend Parks and Rec took over its management 1974.
