LGBTQ writer, director, and producer Hunter Lee Hughes of “Guys Reading Poems” leads with a discussion about the potential for a poem to help us transcend and make meaning out of difficulty. Hunter has explored how poetry and art helps the LGBTQ community make sense of themselves and what it means to be queer.

Hunter Lee Hughes created “Guys Reading Poems” after immersing himself in poetry books left to him by his late grandmother Kathleen. He committed to write and direct Guys Reading Poems with the hope of effectively combining visual poetry with narrative storytelling in a feature film.

Hunter’s favorite poet is Rumi.
